Week 1 Of My Paris Marathon Training Ended Well After A Disastrous Start.
After the icy debacle that was Wednesday, I finished the week strong with a 10 mile run at an average pace of 09:56 min/mile.
That brings me up to 30 miles for the week. A respectable start to my campaign!
The run was amazing. No dogs or riots to dodge. The only difficulty was the wind. At mile 6 it was at my back and I was running downhill at the same time. I was scared that I wasn’t gonna be able to stop on time. If I’d flapped my wings I swear I would have took off like Mary fucking Poppins.
My plan now is to continue 10+ mile long runs at a sub 10:00 minute/mile average pace. I’m pushing more on my shorter runs so that running a 09:30 min/mile becomes my average pace and I no longer have to worry about creeping under 10:00 min/miles anymore.
Today I Developed A Training Schedule And An App.
I went into this week without having a training schedule to stick to for Paris. I decided to create my own schedule and design it through my own tool.
The result of this is the new Angry Jogger Marathon Schedule Generator. It’s a simple app that allows you to select your marathon race day and the program generates the rest! You can specify how many times you want to run a week and set the longest run you’ll do and the application fills in the gaps!
At the minute it assumes an 18 week training cycle with 3 weeks of tapering. Over time the app will allow people to specify the length of their training regime and the tapering. It will also give you plans for half marathons too eventually.
It’s a work in progress and I’m hoping to add more and more features into it, so if you have any functionality you’d like to see in it then tweet your ideas to @angryjogger.
I am now off to bed for a well earned sleep!
