Running My Fastest Half Marathon Of The Month
I loved today’s half marathon. It was another out and back loop of Stamford Hill / Clapton Common. I seem to have finally turned a corner with my fitness after a long dark period and I’ve even started sprinting up hills as I feel invincible.
I ran a February personal best in my 17th consecutive half marathon of 2:08 which is only 13 minutes slower than my 1:55 personal best at my last half marathon in 2013. I’ve now ran more half marathons in the last 17 days than I have actual half marathon races in the last 5 years (17 in February 2016, 16 official ones since March 2011).
Running for me is fun when it’s easy. When I lost myself into the throes of alcoholism this time last year, I’d dream about running and would feel so ashamed that I’d got into a place where I valued booze more than my health. Now that I seem to be going in the right direction I’M REALLY FUCKING DETERMINED to run and celebrate running in my own silly way and to keep doing that.
I’m gonna prove that running can be easy and fun AND FUCK ALL THE NO PAIN, NO GAIN MOTHERFUCKERS WHO RUN THEMSELVES INTO THE GROUND AND THEN WANK ALL OF THEIR SALARIES AWAY ON FUCKING PHYSIOTHERAPY SESSIONS.
I will use a foam roller to iron my balls.
Stay sober, keep running, keep doing silly challenges…
The first two weeks of the challenge where the hardest as my body was getting adjusted to the distance. The most difficult half so far was the one where I had to stop to walk because I thought I was gonna shit myself. I got through that half marathon without going in off the brown, so I’ve got an undefeated record this month.
I now fire myself up before each run with this video as I’m a fucking fan of these cunts from Woking.
If I die whilst running, I want this played at my funeral. Yes, you’ve guessed it. Suck on it.
