Run 1000 Miles In 2012 – Mission Accomplished!
As of today I’ve ran 1000.01 miles for 2012.
I set out to run 6 miles but ended up doing 5.4 on the same hilly route I ran last Monday. The run wasn’t easy. It was warm, hilly and I started out too fast. If I begin too quickly, I struggle to gain my pacing back. I then get annoyed with myself. Instead of decreasing my speed, I run faster!
That’s why it’s essential to try to run calm. It’s easier said than done though, especially when your run isn’t going to plan!
I’m happy that I finally reached the thousand mile milestone but it’s still bittersweet. Running hasn’t got that much easier since the start of the year. It’s partly to do with the weather and mainly due to gaining weight on holiday in April and May.
Still, in 2011 it took me until September to run 1,000 miles. I’m there already in July so I have a base to build on.
I just need to keep running and try to improve the eating. I’m drawing up a shopping list as we speak and I’m trying to make positive choices (Pot Noodles and salads!)
I’ve the first of my September half marathons in 7 weeks time. My longest run this week was 6.5 miles. I need to take more than one of my runs past 7 miles this week and just keep building upwards.
I don’t believe in tapering with half marathons so if I keep on building like this I get there.
