Recovering From The Loch Ness Marathon With Burritos, Rest And Milkshakes.
I’ve been relaxing all week after the Loch Ness Marathon and it’s been a strange time. Normally I can recover from a marathon within a few days but this time around it is taking longer as I put a lot of effort into that run.
4:08 was a much better time than I was ever expecting and I now believe I can record a sub 4 this year. In my next marathon in Munich I will be running the first half in under 2 hours and I’ll just keep going . It will be interesting to see how I cope after that.
Getting back from Scotland on Sunday was a real pain in the ass. The train took over 3 hours to get to Edinburgh. From there it was another 2 hours into London. It all culminated in me missing the last tube home and having to catch 2 separate night buses home which was a real fucking pain in the hole.
I wasn’t home until 2am which was a bollocks.
For the first time in a while my eating seems to be out of control again too. This evening I had a Benito’s Hat Burrito for dinner along with 2 McDonald’s milkshakes and I fucking wolfed them down as if there would never be nomz again.
I think my body is still recovering so I don’t really mind. I’ve lost a lot of weight recently and my clothes don’t fit too good so I guess I’m just trying to find a level. Once all the craziness of the book and the marathons is sorted out I’m gonna rest for a little while and enjoy life I think.
It’s only 10 days now until the Munich Marathon and I’ve decided I’m doing no more long runs. I’m gonna work on my tempo runs alone to try to improve my pace. I’ve really been pushing myself recently so I’m hoping it all pays off.
Finally, in case you haven’t seen the chapter listing of the book yet, here it is for you. It’s gonna be released on November 29th and I’m shooting the cover photo for it on October 19th. I’ve been so busy of late that it’s crazy but it will be brilliant when this finally all come together. Thanks for all your support and patience over the last 6 months with this.
