Ran Twice In One Day For The First Time In About A Week
First run was a standard 6 miler around town. Easy enough pace of 10:30 min/mile. Felt excellent all the way through which is surprising after how rough I felt for most of yesterday’s run. Just shows you how much difference a day can make.
You just have to hope that you wake up on the right side of bed!
Normally I panic when I see my pace dropping on my watch, but this time I just let it be and consciously put effort into taking more steps and after a while my pace levelled off. On Sunday’s run I felt like I was continually having to force the race.
When you’re struggling to jog at speeds that are normally an easy pace for you, it can totally destroy your confidence! Negative thoughts abound.
“Fecking hell you fat twat, why don’t you crawl on your knees and lick the ground on the way around? You couldn’t go any slower than you are now, could you?”
My second run was great as well. Effortless for the most until I seen that I was drastically dropping off towards the end. Had to make the decision to either keep the same pace up or to take a longer route and slowly increase my speed.
Went for the first option as I’m still conscious of running too much and the knee injury recurring. Still I managed 4.6 miles and I don’t feel too bad after the two runs. Usually I’ll be hobbling up the stairs after a double session.
As per usual of late, I brought my FitBit Ultra out with me and was surprised to see that I’ve recorded 19,000 steps.
See this is where training aids like this help me a lot. I cannot rest until I hit 20,000 steps for the day. Sometimes having OCD pays off.
