Ran Twice In One Day Again – A Good 10K And A Poor 5K. Hit The Wall On Final Run.
Decided to go on two runs today to try to make it easily past 30 miles this week.
Ran a 10k followed by a poor 5k. The 5k was an absolute killer. I could feel runner’s knee flaring up again in my right leg and was frustrated by how slow I was moving.
I kept chanting ‘You’re meant to be running a sub 2 hour half marathon and look at you, ya imbocile’ to myself over and over in my head. Hurray for the power of negative thinking.
I was close to stopping when I got to the 5k mark but carried on through for 3.2 miles but still felt terrible at the end! Wanted to run at least 10 miles today and I ended up doing 9.8 miles.
The thing is that the first run was actually very positive. I did 6.5 miles in about 67 minutes. A decent speed and I felt strong throughout.
I just haven’t been performing double sessions enough recently to feel strong on the last run.
I’d love to get back to where I was in late May when I could easily run 40-50 miles a week and feel OK.
I won’t get there by moaning! It will take some running, healthy(ish) eating and a positive(ish) attitude to get there.
