Ran Twice In A Day – 9.5 Miles In Total – 1400 Calories Burned At An Average Jogging Speed Of 5.8 mph.
I was in a wild rage for my first run today. Everything seemed to be wrong from the moment the day started, without me being able to articulate why.
My first run wasn’t enjoyable because of this. Spent 5 miles trying not to give motorists the fingers.
This is why I had a Snickers and a Hot Dog for breakfast.
Strangely though my pacing wasn’t off. I got slightly faster with each mile and started off at a slow pace, just faster than the 11:00 minute mile mark.
Every mile after that was faster than the last. The first mile in any run for me is the worst as it’s when I have to overcome the most mental barriers.
I ran 5 miles in 52 minutes with an average jogging speed of 5.8 mph. Not so bad. This has been my pace ever since my runner’s knee surfaced.
Run number 2 was a LOT better. By running that morning I had jogged all of the anger out of my system and ran with a clear head and delved into a blissful flow.
It helped that the sun was out! Managed just under 4.5 miles in this run. I would have stayed out longer but I didn’t want to risk runner’s knee recurring. Plus it was really quite warm and I was sweating like hell and starting to tire.
If I had any sense I would have brought an isotonic sports drink with me.
Anyway I’m only 15 miles away from 100 miles this month now. My goal at the start of the year was to run at least 100 miles each month of the year and it’s still on!
From tomorrow I will be running with the FitBit Ultra and using the integrated online food tracker just to see how it compares with the Weight Watchers version.
