My Race Pack For The Great North Run 2012 Arrived Today
Today my race pack for the Great North Run 2012 arrived. It seems like only yesterday I found out that my ballot application succeeded.
I hadn’t planned on running today until the race pack came through the letterbox. My last two runs were painful and I was anticipating more of the same today. Thankfully it wasn’t a bad run at all. The only negative was being accosted by 3 idiots mid way through the jog.
I ran past them without saying a word. For the next 2 minutes they continued to shout random insults towards me but I did not respond and kept my pace steady.
My 2nd mile was a little too quick again. I had to consciously will myself to slow down as I wanted today to be an easy run. I find it helps a lot to have a less intensive workout immediately after a bad run. It does miracles for your confidence if you manage to finish without feeling exhausted.
Hopefully I’ll get out for 2 runs tomorrow if the weather isn’t too bad.
I think I’ll leave my rest day until Saturday so that I’m prepared for my 10+ miler on Sunday. It’s hard to believe that I’ll only have 3 weeks left of training until the start of the Great Scottish Run.
