Keeping Running Interesting – A 6.2 Mile Hilly Run In The Country – 10 Weeks Until The Great North Run 2012!
An excellent run was had today, a 6.2 mile steady run, with some downhill sprints thrown in at the end (although sprinting for me barely constitutes limping for the average runner!)
I chose a different country route this time and it was relaxing not having to avoid dogs, single mothers or mad drivers.
I think it’s time that I started introducing longer runs into my training for the Great North Run wich is in less than 10 weeks time.
I had a nightmare last night that it was GNR time and I hadn’t trained at all for it. Was as every bit as terrifying as the school exam nightmares I’ve had since I was 18.
Anyway in terms of training I’m not gonna have just one long slow run at the end of the week, I’m gonna take my average run up to around 7-8 miles and then naturally extend a few of them to around 9-10 miles.
I’m adding in more hills too which should help with my speed, endurance and result in a little bit of weight loss.
