Is Running With A Hangover Good, Bad Or A Cure?
Well it depends on the extent of the hangover doesn’t it?
If you’re half dead in the morning then the chances are that you won’t be able to walk, let alone run.
Even if you can manage a slow trot then it’s likely that you’ll have bowel trouble all around the course.
On the night before an event I’ll usually have a few drinks and stop around 9pm and then drink some water and eat something, that way I can be certain that I’ll feel OK in the morning.
I’ll never be 100% physically though. This in itself makes me panic.
I’ll think ‘I haven’t messed up my chances over a drink, have I?’ and that in itself somehow motivates me. The nervous energy courses through my body and drives me on.
Be wary of running hungover and subsequently having such a difficult time out there that it puts you off running in future.
The last time I ran like this I only managed 3.1 miles and I didn’t go out for days afterwards as I thought that all runs from now on were gonna be this arduous.
Is running with a hangover worth it then? Not really. Best to be at least a bit sober for your run.
