I’m in the same situation as you. Signed up for a 50k this spring but have been injured and have not been able to put in the required miles.. 50k is in less than two weeks..Going to run 20 miles this friday then just plan on run/walking the whole thing. Good luck!

All the best with your run Cory. I’m gonna go for a 20 miler too at the weekend.

Best wishes for the ultra, it seems a hell of a jump from your current distances but it is the next logical step up from marathon.Keeping fuelled will be key as you go along and having some good spells of walking should help split it up and it will hit the muscles from a different angle and help preserve the state of your leg muscles for the running elements.Try not to stop completely unless its no more than 5 mins because your muscles will seize.Try to eat small amounts of food while you walk if you can.

You can totally do it. You know you can do 26.2, so what’s another 4?

I did my first 50K two months before my first marathon, and I’ve never looked back. As a 200 lb runner myself, I’d warn you that the ultra distances can be very addicting! Beware the ultra; you’ll start signing up for marathons as supported training runs!

Good luck, fuel well. Try ginger chews for sour stomach ;)

You’re going to blast this. Your monthly mileages have been high, you’ve got 2 marathons under your belt for this year. You are going to nail this! Go Angry ULTRA RUNNER!!

You can totally do this! I always thought that maybe one day in the future I might potentially try an ultra until the point where I thought “fuck it, the worst thing that can happen is that I have to walk the last miles” and I just signed up and did it. It’s the way to go (or run)!
Good luck and most important: Have fun out there.

Ha ha ha ha, this sounds like the kind of rash decision I would make on a rice krispie high. Best of luck!

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
