I’m Not Following A Post Marathon Reverse Taper After My Full Marathon – How Soon Will I Run Again? Whenever I Feel Like It!
Thankfully I got 14 hours of sleep last night so I’m feeling super-refreshed. My legs however still feel extremely heavy so I’m not gonna risk injury and head straight out there until I’m at least 90% recovered.
I’ve been scouring the net for post marathon reverse tapers and I’ve decided that I’m not going to follow such a plan.
Instead I will let my body dictate how much running I will do in the upcoming weeks.
Feeling optimistic that I can capitalize on the extra fitness that running the marathon will have brought to me, unlike last year when I went immediately on holiday put on a lot of weight and ran on average only 20 miles per week up until July.
With a good rest tonight I think I’ll be ready for a 10k tomorrow. It’s about time that I started pushing myself a little bit harder in runs. I’ve become complacent in terms of speed, averaging 10:15/min miles ever since the start of the year.
It’s time to try to average at least 10:00/mile on each run and just bring my times down gradually.
