Fundraising For Cancer Research UK – My 3 Half Marathons In 3 Weeks Challenge
Hey everyone, I’m just letting you all know that I’ve started collecting my fundraising for Cancer Research UK.
Originally I’d only planned on running the Great North Run for the charity in September, but now I’ve decided to be a little more ambitious and run 3 half marathons in 3 weeks in 3 different countries for them.
I’m running in memory of my father who lost his battle with cancer in March 2011 after being diagnosed with it only the year before.
When I first started out with all of this running helped me deal with my dad’s illness and I don’t think I could’ve coped in the long term if I hadn’t had the constant of running in the background.
I’ve covered over 2,500 miles since I started running in January 2011 and it still helps keep me sane to this day.
That’s why I’m determined to run the following 3 marathons in September for Cancer Research UK. If any good should come of my running, I think it’s only fair that I dedicate it to a cause that’s close to my heart.
- 2nd September 2012 – Great Scottish Run, Glasgow, Scotland
- 9th September 2012 – Waterside Half Marathon, Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland
- 16th September 2012 – Great North Run, Gateshead, England.
I’ve set up my Just Giving page over here and I’d be eternally grateful if you could donate any amount whatsoever.
Training is going excellent at the moment, I’ve just completed another 50 mile week. The only downside is that my longest run was only 8.5 miles. Saying that I’ve done an 8.5, an 8, a 7 and two 6.5’s in the last 7 days.
It’s under 4 weeks until my first half in the Great Scottish Run. Really looking forward to running my 7th half marathon. It will be a blast!
