Garmin Connect Is An Amazing Motivating Tool For Any Runner. Perfect Running Application For My Garmin Forerunner 405 CX
Whenever I feel down on myself about training I log into the Garmin Connect website and use the Reports facility to look back at how I’ve done over the past year.
Now my stats are modest by all accounts (especially my speed which seems to be continually dropping) but just seeing my increases in mileage from Jan 2011 to Jan 2012 is heartening.
I am excited by the possibility of improving even further by remaining consistent over the summer months.
Without this constant feedback I’d be lost. It’s great how websites like the Daily Mile can syndicate your runs too, especially since they have advanced community features that allow you to befriend local runners and share your activities in their feed. Not only can you keep track of how you’re doing on your own, but you can pit yourself against other runners like yourself.
My Mileage Plans For 2012
It’s not really a big ask to keep my mileage above 100 miles for every month of 2012 (as long as I can avoid injury of course!). The biggest test will be December. I can never seem to find the motivation to run when the weather hits freezing and the sun never rises.
Part of me wonders what sort of condition I’d be in by now if I’d actually kept training over December whilst in Europe. In fairness, I was walking around 5 miles each day, but it’s just not the same.
