First Ever Outdoor Sub 50 Minute 10K
I thought I was injured yesterday which was partly responsible for me being a bit down. Got out at midnight for an easy 7 miles and I felt much better when I got back.
It’s a nice night over here in Northern Ireland so I decided to go out and run a sub 50 minute 10k. I ran the first uphill bit at about a pace of 5:15 and then upped my pace to be closer to 5:00 on the straight bits.
Then I sped up on the downhill bits to about 4:45 and waited until I got to the 10k and relaxed.
It’s different running a bit faster. I don’t enjoy it at all but it’s good achieving these things.
If I still drank I couldn’t have done this. I’m only able to run faster because I’m at the lowest weight I’ve been as an adult.
I got my weight down to 85kg by being booze free, running slowly and keeping track of my calories.
It’s by plodding that I’m able to run faster. Gives me a good base to build on. I need to be able to run faster in case I get to 83km in a 100km with sunset fast approaching and it’s a choice between speeding up and not finishing.
Looking forward to getting out tomorrow for a longer run. For these quicker runs I’ve changed my Fenix 3 data screens to have 4 data fields.
- Total distance
- Total average pace
- Lap pace
- Lap distance
Will be switching my watch to back have only the distance field tomorrow.
