Excellent But Belated Long Run This Morning After A Shitty Weekend
After a great start to last week with 5 runs in 5 days I totally fucked up and spent the weekend on my hole eating like there was no fucking tomorrow.
I ended up running 26.9 miles last week which is piss. Although in reality I should count this morning’s run as part of last week, making it a more respectable 35 miles.
I really love running in the morning. There’s something about the cold morning air that’s electric, like the day is full of possibilities and anything can happen.
But nothing usually ends up happening. I get back in from the run, with my legs cramping like death and a seriously itchy arse, feeling as lethargic and spent as a nun on a wank.
Anyway I’ll try my best to be good this week and eat semi responsibly. Part of the reason of why I’ve been eating like shit is that my sleep cycle has been fucked up since I returned from Europe in December.
Now that I’m starting work this week I’ll hopefully creep back into a sane sleeping cycle. Otherwise I think I might have to bang my hand repeatedly off a desk until I render myself unconscious.
And I really don’t want to have to do that.
Overall though, I really need to focus more on the long run. My biggest weakness in my Belfast Marathon 2011 training were my long slow runs. I’d always lose it mentally towards the end of the run and hit the wall at 13 miles and feel like I could run no more. This will not happen again, trust me!
