Day 26 – Great Run In Barcelona But A Shitty Train To Paris.

After last night’s shitty run in the port I started yesterday much more positively. I ran uptown and got to Park Guell at an elevation of 216m and did a lap of the place. The view of Barcelona from the park is beautiful and I reached it just as the sun was rising. I’d highly recommend going there for a run if you haven’t before.
I spent most of the day on the TGV from Barcelona to Paris. Towards the end of the journey I was counting every single minute and I wasn’t in a happy place. It took 6 hours 40 minutes and I made 4 separate visits to the restaurant car where I filled my face with substandard and overpriced shite.
It was 7 euros for a subpar sandwich and the meat tasted like an open sewer. You can’t do anything to protest in such a situation. I wanted to throw the half eaten sandwich back in the face of the man who sold it to me, but it’s not his fault. He is forced to sell people this shit otherwise he’ll get sacked.
I walked to the hotel from Gare Du Lyon. It’s about 2.5 miles if you go directly but I ended up lost so it took around 2 hours. My back was killing me thanks to my fucking rucksack. I’d walked with it from my hotel to Sants earlier in the morning so it was up for all the punishment.
I’ve no more long train journeys ahead. I’m getting the Eurostar back to London on Monday morning and I’m looking forward to it now.
Whilst my fat camp was a success, I’ve been eating all the food recently and it seems like I’ve not been making much progress since I hit my goal a week or two ago. It’s disheartening and I don’t feel like I’m in control.
I’d love to maybe do a low carb 31 day challenge soon just to keep shit interesting. I need to go into Haribo rehab. Once I’m back in London my mind will turn to the Isle of Wight Challenge in April and then London 2 Brighton in May. It’s been three years since my first go at it and I guess I’ve made some progress in that time. I need to keep on going.
I woke up late last night hungry for more food. I spent half an hour storming up the street by the hotel in search of any eateries that were open. I found a pizza joint but after my experience on La Rambla I chose to buy 2 packets of M&M’s and some coke instead. These appear in tomorrows listings SO YOU’VE GOT THAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO.
