Battling Through The Rain
Started at – Cawton, Devon
Ended at – Great Torrington, North Devon
Today started well. I had an amazing breakfast cooked for me in the B&B and the lady even made me a fucking packed lunch to bring with me.
I don’t have pictures of my breakfast as I thought it was gonna be brought upstairs to me. I had to go down to the conservatory to eat it and I hadn’t showered and was therefore feeling vulnerable. There was no time for snappy snaps.
It was wet outside from the very start until the end. The first 10 miles were good until I realised my right nipple had bled through my shirt and then through my coat. I’d applied lube before the run but it had washed off.
This set me off into a negative thought cycle that I battled through.
The next 10 miles were going great up until I took a wrong turn that led to a dead end up in Little Torrington. I’d been relying only on my compass for directions as checking maps can be joyless especially in the pissing rain.
I was gonna try to hit Barnstaple but I didn’t have the energy and my left ankle was starting to make creaking sensations. Plus I was soaking wet.
The forecast is to be a lot better for tomorrow so hopefully I can continue this progress and not slip backwards. I talked about bad days being inevitable in a previous post and today wasn’t even one of them. I started the week with 23 miles. I battled through crappy thoughts and refused to give up. I made a decision to stop when I could sense my body was under a lot of strain. Today has been a success.
Even if my phone is acting up
My phone isn’t working properly. I got it replaced under insurance and I’m pretty certain this new one is just some badly sutured up piece of shit.
Typing this blog post has been fucking infuriating. The back button keeps firing randomly and it makes it almost impossible to type.
It’s a worry as I rely on my phone for navigation.
