9 Days Until Paris And I’m Still A REALLY Lazy Bastard.
I’m now in the dying days before Paris and I’m at the stage where I’m bored of counting down and just want to be there already.
I’m gonna retire my running trousers after Paris. They are so worn that the velcro straps at the back are cutting into my skin.
At the same time I feel comfortable running in them.
I have tights that I’ve worn twice before but they are fucking wrong. They cut me so tight at my groin that I’m terrified that my cock will snap off if it grows out of worry on the run.
I need to get rid of them and buy some real running gear but my weight fluctuates that much that it’s hard to find a true fit.
Lazy bastard blues.
I am feeling really lazy at the minute but I’m trying to embrace it. I wanted to run this morning but I was just too tired and slept on through my 5am alarm.
3 runs in this last week will be more than enough though.
I’ll definitely get out for a run this weekend. The weather here is so much better than last week. It may be near freezing but at least it’s sunny and crisp, basically perfect if you tend to overheat like I do on the run.
I fly out next Thursday to Amsterdam and I’ll just spend 2 days relaxing there. I do love Amsterdam. The first time I went there was the day after the World Cup Final in 2010.
The Netherlands lost but Amsterdam was still in full celebration mode. The metro was free and the fast food joints were handing out burgers to strangers.
I had found a Heaven of sorts.
I’m just gonna go there and fucking relax and have some of their world famous FEBO burgers and enjoy it all. My hotel is right by Vondelpark so I’ll no doubt have a picnic there and spend an hour or 8 harassing the squirrels.
This will be less than ‘ideal’ preparation for the marathon itself, but what am I meant to do instead?
Sit full-lotus in the kitchen and crack one off into the sink whilst summoning the fire behind Mo Farah?
I have real trouble taking any of this running malarkey seriously and that’s one of the greatest joys of it all. It isn’t so much about excelling as taking part and actually having fun.
Only 9 days left now and counting…
