7 Mile Run – Achieved Flow For The Entire Run. My Best Jog For Some Time, Particularly In Rainy Weather.
Today I had one of those rare runs where I was dreading going out for a run after a night of excess but when I actually got going it was great.
Effortless flow for 7 miles. I even managed to break my habit of running at a 10:30 min/mile pace. Today I hit 10:20 min/mile. Still slow as fuck but hey, it’s progress.
That takes my running streak up to 11 days now. Delighted.
Two weeks ago I was worried that I’d never be able to run again because of the knee. It’s surprising how much difference a fortnight makes.
If I’ve learnt one thing from today it is that there’s no point in feeling down about eating too much the night before. I have the legs to run it off and instead of seeing it as a binge of sorts, I’ll just refer to it as ‘impromptu carb loading’.
It’s not something I want to repeat too often otherwise I’ll make zero progress.
It’s strange how much damper the air feels now compared to the last week. Feels like there is room to breathe. Yesterday the humidity was especially oppressive.
Anyway I’m at 134 miles for the month now, 16 off my target of 150 with tomorrow and Saturday to go. That’s 3×5.33 mile runs. Should be a piece of cake.
I might do 2 longer runs instead. Getting in the 7 miler today boosted my confidence as I was starting to doubt that I could run long anymore. To be honest I felt like I could have easily went on for 10 miles or more.
I would have but the clouds were starting to look extremely angry. The last thing I need is a thunderbolt to the tits.
