6.7 Mile Rainy Hill Run Today In 65 Minutes.
I went out this morning at 9am for another easy jog around town. I quickly realised that my Garmin Forerunner wasn’t working as expected. For the first half mile it was reporting that I’d ran 0.25 mile less than I had!
It made me realise that I rely far too much on the Forerunner for pacing and I think it’s even been holding me back.
Y’see I’ve been trying to keep to a pace that I know I’m comfortable at over the past year. But something has changed in the last few weeks. I think it might be a combination of the hill running and the speed bursts at the end but I now feel comfortable at a 10 minute mile.
Since the Forerunner wasn’t reporting my correct pace, I ignored it for the entire run and it wasn’t until I was back home that I seen I’d ran under a 10 minute mile on every single mile apart from the first.
I’m starting to wonder what’s possible. Perhaps if I didn’t spend so much time worrying about the figure on my watch and more time on trying to maintain flow I could become a better runner.
Today I ran close to a tenth of a mile further than yesterday but twenty seconds faster. The difference between the two runs is that my latest one involved lots and lots of hills.
